Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Niko Ahmeti and his family, on this winter’s eve, are the owners of newly-built, comfortable house lit by electricity, a completely different from a previously ruined house building this family lived in for years in full darkness, which is now just a memory of the past.

The house built from scratch in the village of Vajze in the southern district of Vlora, though in a remote and isolated area around two kilometres away from the nearest power grid, is now equipped with everything a family needs to lead a normal life.

The first visitors to wish Niko, his spouse and children for the new home were the Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri.

During an earlier visit to Niko’s house, the Premier pledged that the house will be supplied with electricity, whereas the family’s two sons would be provided the opportunity to attend vocational training and education on crafts they wanted in order to become skilled workers, lead a professional career and support their family. Unfortunately, despite their desire, the three sons of the family were never given the opportunity to attend education.

But, these promises are now a reality.

“The house is secluded and away from the rest of the village. A dedicated power line was built and the house is now supplied with electricity,” PM Rama said.

Everyone at Niko Ahmeti’s home feels good at this new start.
