The healthcare centre in the town of Rrogozhine is the latest facility to be rehabilitated under the National Programme on Reconstruction of 300 healthcare facilities in accordance with European standards. The work to rehabilitate healthcare centres across the country has continued despite the situation due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This centre delivers health care to around 14,000 local residents,” the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu said, while accompanying the Prime Minister Edi Rama during inspection of the new healthcare premises, where physicians and nurses will be working in decent conditions.

“The healthcare facility had degraded totally. It used to be a 24-hour care service centre, but it failed to live by its name. We have managed to press ahead with our program despite the pandemic in 2020 and this centre has been already completely transformed,” Health Minister Manastirliu said. Health workers themselves praised the newly-rehabilitated centre and the working environment. “The working environment and the conditions have changed radically. This is not to please you, but we really feel comfortable now,” one of the health professionals said.

The newly-reconstructed healthcare centre offers not only care service to local residents in Rrogozhine and the surrounding villages, but also the opportunity to carry out the vaccine rollout thanks to the vaccine cold and storage chain and conduct the COVID-19 vaccination drive. “The vaccination program at each health care centre is currently one of the most important programs. We have a high vaccine coverage for the entire vaccination program, but in fact and in the situation with COVID and the start of vaccination, in addition to the concentrated vaccination centers, as soon as we secure the amount of vaccines, we are organized that all the cooling chain at temperatures of 2 to 8 degrees becomes operational, in order to be able to store the vaccine at required temperatures,” Health Minister said.

The health care centre in Rrogozhine has been equipped with two new ambulances to serve inhabitants under coordination of the National Health Emergency Centre.
