2, 5 million Euros were publicly delivered today to the company that is building the Fier by-pass.
2, 5 million Euros have been given to the company to reimburse the damages caused by the floods occurred in February of this year.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Transport Edmond Haxhinasto inspected this afternoon works for the construction of the bypass, half of which have been already completed, and were present at the moment when this sum was granted, which among other things enables the continuation of works.
After handing over the check to the construction company, the representative of the insurance company Eurosig urged businesses and individuals to obtain insurance cover, as the best option, against disasters.
“We are giving away this cheques publicly, because businesses and individuals need to know that for damages caused to them by climatic changes, they have to knock neither at the government door nor at any other door, because insurance companies will respond for these damages with the maximum guarantee”.
Minister of Transport Haxhinasto also urged businesses and individuals to obtain insurance cover for their activity, which, inter alia, encourages the growth of a sector that should be promoted further given its great opportunities to developed, in addition to creating greater sustainability to their economy and businesses.
“The bypass of Fier is a very important work for the North-South axis. Works have been completed at 50%, and they are expected to finish in the coming year. I also would like to urge businesses and individuals to obtain insurance cover for their activities against such events. This boosts significantly economic development, the growth of a sector that should develop further for it has great opportunities, for development, in addition to creating greater sustainability to their economy and businesses”- Minister Haxhinasto said.
In addition to pointing out the importance of cooperation in the insurance sector, the minister also announced that the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Interior have signed an agreement with the sector to help each other to increase road safety. “I take this opportunity to emphasize the importance of cooperation with the insurance sector. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Interior have signed an agreement with the sector to help each other with an aim at increasing road safety. This project will work and have shared benefits. Road safety is one of our most important objectives, because citizens should be provided a transportation service which is as safe as it is of quality”- the Minister noted.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the public delivery of this amount is a witness conveying a very clear message of security to enterprises in the first place, but also to businesses or families that are threatened by natural disasters.
“This is in fact a proof that we wanted to make public to convey a very clear message to enterprises in the first instance, but also to businesses or families that are threatened by natural disasters. We have responded to the floods of February, due to which this small event is being held here today, at all levels during and after the crisis. In cooperation with the European Commission for damages in agricultural products, we are now distributing the money. However the present case shows that hadn’t this company obtained insurance cover, it would have been impossible to compensate it for the damage caused by the flooding in his site.
So we will continue to strengthen the bridge between the state and insurance companies to constantly promote the message for businesses to obtain insurance cover. Now that you have removed every bureaucratic obstacles and have solved all the problems of documentation that would stand as a mountain between us and the target to eventually complete the work, we can move with greater speed forward and have the bypass of Fier completed within the next year.”
