Investments in sports fields, part of the “Sports Teams in Schools” program, are bringing a fresh wave of sporting energy to young people by creating modern infrastructure that enables them to practice a wider range of sports disciplines.

At the “Adem Haxhija” Secondary School in Postribë, Shkodër, the new field under construction is a long-awaited sports facility, offering youth and the broader community an opportunity to breathe new life into local sports.

Prime Minister Edi Rama continued his inspection of projects in Shkodër by visiting this school, where the new sports field was warmly received as a much-needed addition to the area’s sporting potential.

“The sports facilities are now completed, including a basketball court, volleyball court, and mini football field. This is how the school becomes a community hub—because in the afternoons, these spaces will remain open, and we will organize activities with the Olympic Committee, as well as with coaches. In Shkodër, we are investing in three schools, sports fields, and gymnasiums: ‘Adem Haxhija’, ‘Dëshmorët e Prishtinës’, and ‘Preng Jakova’. Additionally, we are investing in the rehabilitation of two more schools and their gymnasiums, ‘Ndre Mjeda’ and ‘Kolë Idromeno’,” said the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu. She also noted that for the first time in many years, the Municipality of Shkodër is applying for new projects. “Six million euros have been allocated for investments in Shkodër. A total of 3 billion lek have been earmarked for investments in the entire education system across the country. We are working to open new school construction projects in 2025,” she added.

Meanwhile, the school’s director, also a former student, expressed gratitude on behalf of the staff and emphasized that the school had never had such infrastructure before. “We’ve never had a sports field. This is a huge opportunity, and I thank you on behalf of the staff and students for making these sports facilities possible. We have athletic potential here, and this is a community that values both education and sports. We sincerely thank you, the Ministry of Education, and the Mayor for making these sports fields a reality.”
