Albanian Government Council of Ministers

As many of his fellow citizens, Sadri Gjoka from Kukes had been waiting for years to receive a legalization permit for the house he has built. His hard work and the wait were rewarded today with the document that makes Sadri a rightful owner of the home where he lives with his family. Sadri was issued the legalization by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who was today his guest.

The Prime Minister explained that this document, issued not only to Sadri but also to others in Kukes, will reward manifold their efforts and the hard work spent on building their homes. “When the house is registered in the property register and becomes real estate, this whole capital that has been spent to build this house, and which is today dead, is revived. You can take this property title to a bank and apply for a loan, you can make an investment. You can receive a small loan for a small farm. There it is, and from the moment you register it with the real estate office, you will have the capital invested to build your house available to invest it in the household economy.”

As he compared the construction of a home with state building, the Prime Minister said it would be quite different if many things happened several decades ago. “It takes 6 years to build a house, but how can you make a state in 6 days? If things were done 20 years ago, now they would be different. There have been of course hopes and deceptions, but this work had to start one day, and it had to be thoroughly done because half would pay for energy, and the other half wouldn’t, and those who paid were considered “fools” compared to the “smartest” ones who didn’t pay.

Sadri’s history is one of the kind. Many years ago his family and another 4 families were forced to move due to landslides. But, whereas the other families received compensation for the damages due to their party affiliation, Sadri didn’t receive anything and he invested everything he had to build a new house. To the desire of Sadri for a state where justice is equal for all, Prime Minister Rama replied that Justice Reform is the right solution, but it is being hindered by those who fear it. “Their problem is that they are afraid of the Justice Reform. Because they could stay in the tent every day, but be in Parliament on Thursday and vote the Vetting, which is a broom to clear the palace of justice of the dirt. They don’t do it because they are tightly connected to that dirt.”

With regard to the perspective of the country’s economic development, the Prime Minister said that compared to the situation of three years ago the improvement is visible, but there is still a lot of work to do for the Albania that all the Albanians want. “We need to keep going with what we are doing and to continuously improve things, as there is still a lot to be done. If we look at the economic figures, in 2013 we were in a state of complete stagnation, with 0 point something percent increase. Now it is at 3.5%, but still it is not enough to reach people. In order for the economic growth to reach in each home, it should exceed 5%, and this is our goal.”
