The test results for the free check-ups have been professionally guaranteed and carried out according to the highest standards of modern medicine, thanks to a network of 20 modern laboratories across Albania, a 3.2 million Euro investment allocated by the Consortium 3P Logistic Life.
Accompanied by the Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj, Prime Minister Edi Rama visited today one of the laboratories located in Tirana, and saw followed closely the procedures carried out for tests, in addition to meeting the medical staff.
The laboratory devices and the reagents are produced by the Swiss brand “Roche” and the American “Abbott”, both of them world leaders in the field of diagnostic laboratories. The laboratory has been accredited by the Accreditation Directorate (DA) through a process conducted by well-known foreign experts having a long experience in the accreditation of laboratories in France and in Italy.
The medical staff of the laboratory consists of 61 employees, among which there are doctors with a many-year long experience in laboratories, having received specific training in the field, and scientific titles that guarantee the accuracy of the test results.
Minister of Health Beqaj explained that the fleet of 40 vehicles is taking blood samples from 380 health centres across the country, and takes them to the labs. “The network of laboratories is an investment of 3.2 million Euros. There are 380 health centres, from which a fleet of 40 vehicles takes the samples in the labs across the country”, Beqaj said.
The company administrator, Altin Fani explained that test samples are transported thanks to specialized German technology by the company “Delta T”, which is specialized and equipped for the transportation of organs. Thanks to this organization, citizens receive their results within 2 weeks. “It is a German company certified for the transportation of blood samples and human organs”, Fani said.
However, in addition to this normal procedure for sending citizens the test results, another accelerated procedure is carried out in these laboratories in order to reply within a period of 24-48 hours, for cases that are deemed to be urgent, and are recommended by a doctor or verified during the laboratory examinations. For these cases, immediate notification is sent to the Health Centre who has conducted the tests, as well as to the family physicians in order to assist citizens.
The administrator said also that a special attention is paid to educating employees, as an important condition for being part of the staff. “I’ve paid a lot of importance to education of the employees. The majority of these young women has studies abroad.”
Nejsi is one of the coordinators of the laboratory, and she studied in New York. She said that some problems have been identified during her one-year experience in the lab, but if they are handled properly and on time, many lives can be saved. “My name is Nejsi, and I’ve studied Bioinformatics in New York. I’ve been working with the check-up for a year, since the first day it was launched. I am in charge of the laboratory coordination. Basically, I make sure that everything complies with the procedures. This is very helpful, because if issues are identified on time, many lives can be saved”
Laura, as well, has studies in New York and specialized in medical technology. Her task is to ensure the good running of the proceedings, and that everything goes according to the protocols set. “My name is Laura, and I graduated in medical technology in New York. In addition, I have studied health management here in Albania. I am the administrative supervisor of the laboratory. I deal mainly with the management of the staff, and develop procedures, for every process carried out in the laboratory is documented in order to avoid confusion.” Another new employee tells her experience. “I studied Molecular Diagnostic in Italy. Here, I am the coordinator of the laboratory.” The IT sector also has its own skilled staff. “I deal with the system. I entry the patients data in the system”, a new employee explained.
The administrator of the company, Altin Fani said that these talented young people are a special value of this investment, but they are not the only one. “We have another staff, as much prepared and educated. This is the added value of this investment.”
In addition to congratulating the staff of this lab, Prime Minister Rama said that only a partnership with privates could provide such a great service. “Although I defended this public-private partnership and this process, I was completely unaware of the extraordinary skills of the staff. I am very honoured to meet these excellent coordinators. I’m fascinated by technology, and the reliability and safety of the entire process. I have always known that the guarantee for this success is a combination of two of the most famous companies supporting it. This investment could be done only by a partnership with privates. The state could neither do this kind of investment nor guarantee this kind of quality.”
