Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected one of the important sites of urban renaissance in Vlore, the reconstruction of the road “Veledin Kollozi” and the revitalization of the surrounding area. Being one of the main streets in the city centre, it is a main artery of tourist and economic importance. The reconstruction aims at widening the road and transforming the space on both its sides into a recreational space with resting areas, greenery and lighting system. In addition, trees on the sidewalks will be replaced with new trees.

The Mayor of Vlore, Dritan Leli highlighted the importance of the project for the community, and explained some of its details. “Various greenery will be planted in these parks. Some peer woods, magnolias, in the other parks some other plants, mimosas or something else, so that they will be varied. Roadside greenery will be planted all the way down. We will rearrange the entire area around the buildings, will unify the tents and paint the facades.”

Prime Minister Rama inspected the progress of works on the revitalization of the urban space within the coastline of Vlore, known as Lungomare. The project is transforming the promenade in a pedestrian area and a destination for tourists. At the beginning of the summer season, the city centre of Saranda will have a new look, thanks to a museum complex connected to the waterfront promenade through the Flag Road. In this 6 thousand m2 area hosting the administrative buildings, the museum complex and the art gallery, a project has been launched for its urban redesigning which will transform the Flag Road into a pedestrian area. The approximately 103 million ALL project includes the restoration of the facades of buildings, greenery, decorative and functional lighting of the road. The surface will be paved with decorative slabs in order to interconnect all the spaces in the area, including streets, sidewalks and parks.

Accompanied by Mayor of Saranda Floriana Koka, and Ministers Blendi Klosi and Damian Gjiknuri, Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the work sites and met with project implementers. The urban revitalization of this space gives the city more dynamism, which will be tripled during the summer season, but also more opportunities for 80 businesses located in the city centre.

“It’s a very powerful and useful investment for the city”, one of the local leaders said.

“This space was horrible. Now it is being transformed into a city tourist street paved with slabs, and connected to the promenade area down there. It also needs some interventions because it hasn’t been done properly. The entire complex will have another quality, and will give the city much more dynamism, especially in the tourist season”, the Prime Minister said.
