Librazhd also is part of the Urban Revival sites. The city centre, which used to be just a chaotic space without any function, is very different from what it was before the Urban Revival in terms of functionality and aesthetics. “The whole square has been resized, it has nothing to do with what it was before. The lighting system, the greenery, the stone tiles, everything has been made from scratch”, the mayor said.

The city neighbourhoods also have undergone thorough changes. After the demolition of some informal constructions and of the various additions to facilities, public space have been obtained and made available to the citizens. In addition, roads have been arranged, greenery has been added and the lighting system has been restored. Businesses also has felt the positive effects after the urban transformation of the city centre and its neighbourhoods. “We had to demolish here some informal constructions, additions, fences, which were generally demolished with the support of the dwellers of the building, who have removed these informal constructions. So, it was possible to have these common spaces that have been made available for all residents of this neighbourhood. All businesses here have become more attractive since the moment we invested in the neighbourhood, and also the property value has been resized, has increased a lot”, the mayor said.

In a very poor shape was also the kindergarten, built since the 70s and where no intervention was made in over 30 years. Now, after a thorough reconstruction, it provides to children better standards.

The entrance of the city also is being rehabilitated. It had become a degraded area not only due to the lack of investments, but also as a result of flooding from the river Shkumbin. Buildings in the lower part of the city and adjacent businesses have been in danger quite a few times. To avoid this risk, interventions are being made to divert the river Shkumbin, and also the dam and a bridge are being built to accommodate streams that flow into Shkumbin. For an efficient use of the space, the interventions include not only engineering works, but also the aesthetic treatment of the territory. A new promenade will be built on the damn, with functional facilities for all ages, with greenery and decorative lighting system. The works include an area of 3 hectares, but and area of 30 hectares is expected to be protected thanks to this project. “The river has constantly eaten away territories, and it had come to a point where the road connecting us with Diber was in real danger. In addition to the embankment, the project envisages also a pedestrian walkway with benches”, the mayor said while explaining the investment.

The Prime Minister called it “a continuous and healthy process of urban development” that will be extended from the centre towards the periphery and the administrative units. “This is a concrete result of a well-thought work, not only projects, but projects with a clear strategy to be extended from the centre towards the periphery, and from the periphery to each administrative unit. It is pretty clear to me that there are still many needs to be met here, but it is important that all people understand that this is an unstoppable and very healthy process of urban development. The improved quality like day and night of the public space in the main city of the new municipalities is a very clear message to every inhabitant of the municipalities in the most remote village. On the other hand, this is the only way to create a community, coexistence, a sense of belonging, and to psychologically break away from isolation and the separation into many pieces, with 400 communes of 400 thousand wounds which instead of being treated were only aggravated and infected”, the Prime Minister said.

The urban transformation is being accompanied by an increased business activity where interventions have been made. “What people sometimes cannot perceive, due to the bin propaganda, is that this kind of approach brings growth of the local economy because it brings an increased desire to do small business, it increases the desire to consume, and definitely the growth of self-employment or small employment”, the Prime Minister noted.

During the inspection, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Mayor Kastriot Gurra, MPs Taulant Balla, Evis Kushi, Musa Ulqini and Anastas Angeli.
