New Dibra road linking the towns of Peshkopi and Librazhd, an alternative route to the Arbri Road, will connect Albania’s northeast and southeast, providing a fresh development perspective in whole space stretching from the region of Diber to the south-eastern district of Korça.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Mayor of Librazhd Kastriot Gurra, and the Socialist Party lawmaker Taulant Balla, inspected the ongoing works to construct the road segment, linking Lunik, a little explored area known for its natural wonders, the town of Librazhd and the national road. The government head put emphasis on the importance of this road segment in connecting the northeast with the southeast of Albania. PM Rama noted “this is a long-promised infrastructure project over the decades, but it was totally abandoned and the project will be finalized by this government to provide another alternative to the region Diber, in addition to Arbri Road, a two-lane highway running from Tirana to Diber, as well as the entire south-eastern area, creating a whole new area of little explored Albania.”
The new Dibra road is a $ 15.7 million investment. An alternative route of Arbri road, which once complete, it will connect Diber and Librazhd and other south-eastern Albania districts, lawmaker Taulant Balla said.
PM Rama also emphasized that the road project will also fuel the area’s development. “Entire southeastern part of the country will benefit from this strategic road segment, which will give a fresh impetus to an interaction with tremendous economic potential, as this area has huge potential to deliver agritourism and tourism development opportunities, and, just like the Arbri road, it offers a panoramic drive through Albania.”
The investment is set to complete within 12 months.
