Another health centre in the town of Patos has been recently rehabilitated under the government’s program “Health for Everyone” in collaboration with the Swiss government. Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, visited the newly-reconstructed centre that now provides health care service to around 45 000 residents of the town of Patos.
“The centre has been rehabilitated under the government’s ‘Health for Everyone’ project in collaboration with the government of Switzerland. The new health centre is another success story in the efforts to improve health infrastructure and human resources that have attended continuing education. Under the ‘Health for Everyone’ project being jointly developed by the government of Switzerland and Albania, medical personnel in the regions of Diber and Fier as well have been supplied with personal medical equipment backpack to allow them carry out home visits or travel to see patients,” Health Minister said in her remarks.
“The medic’s first aid kit and equipment backpack has helped us a lot. We were previously provided a blood pressure meter only. Now we are given the opportunity to provide first aid as well as continuous patient monitoring by conducting home visits,” one of the center’s health personnel members said.
Patients who receive the necessary health services at this center admit that the change is incomparable. School children also receive free dental services at this center.
The new health center, which provides a range of specialized care services, is the model to be followed in the ongoing project designed to rehabilitate more than 300 health centers across the country by 2021 to complete the basic health care services throughout the country.
