In the Port of Durrës, today the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Fincantieri company and the Albanian company “KAYO,” marking the start of cooperation for a joint venture in the naval military industry. A Letter of Intent was also signed for the transfer of the “Libra” patrol military vessel to the Albanian Naval Force.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu, visited the Libra ship and participated in the signing of the cooperation documents.
The Prime Minister stated that this act is proof of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, which is entering a new era, generating new energy.
While thanking the Italian friends, Prime Minister Rama said that the relationship with Italy, through this cooperation, is becoming even more important, even more strategic, and more connected to the mutual interests of both countries, both of our nations.
“Certainly, this ship is a very visible and tangible proof of everything we are doing together, and I want to assure everyone that what we are doing together is much more than this ship, and it is much more than the material aspect because we are truly working to create an important synergy between these two sides of the Adriatic and to bring together new ideas and new energy to move forward and transform this very old friendship more and more into something good for both our peoples and our two states.
And as the minister, my good friend, and I said, we live in times that are sufficiently new and with challenges we couldn’t have imagined just a few years ago.
For this, it is very clear to everyone that we need to unite everything that is possible to unite, and it doesn’t matter much whether you are big or small, but it matters to contribute something. And I believe that this relationship with Italy is becoming even more important, even more strategic, and more connected to the mutual interests of both countries, both of our nations.
I want to especially thank the entire military team that came from Italy for this demonstration of great generosity, of great friendship, of deep respect; I want to especially thank the head of the military delegation for the hospitality and for the beautiful memory I will take with me of the ‘jewel’ here nearby, the Italian navy ship. It’s not every day that you get such an opportunity, and thank you, Guido, for showing me another Italian museum, but this time in the sea and not on land. It’s truly an extraordinary pleasure, and I hope our military personnel, especially the head of the Albanian Navy, are happy. I know that ‘appetite comes with eating,’ but meanwhile, this ‘great dish of generosity and kindness’ from Italy must be enjoyed.”
This was the statement made by Prime Minister Rama during his address.
