PRIME MINISTER EDI RAMA VISITED THE INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR WHICH IS BEING HELD IN THE CITY OF TURIN, ITALY, AND WHERE ALBANIA HAS ITS OWN STAND.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stood a long while at the stand dedicated to Albanian literature, where books by Albanian authors translated into Italian were displayed alongside many books in Albanian. The Prime Minister considered the Fair and Albania’s participation in it as an important opportunity to deepen knowledge and expand contacts between the two cultures of Italy and Albania.
“It is a particularly pleasant feeling to finally find in this stand the only guide of Tirana and Albania written in Italian, a joint work by an Albanian and an Italian. It is a pleasure to hear the words of the president of the Fair and the voices of many others saying that it is necessary to continue working together and enhancing cooperation between us, so that Albanian literature and culture be recognized even more and be even more available in Italy and vice versa”- Prime Minister said.
The International Book Fair of Turin, where Albania has its own stand, is the biggest cultural event of Italy and one of the most famous in Europe.
At the fair, Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with the Mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino who is also one of the senior members of the Italian Democratic Party. After the meeting, Prime Minister Rama addressed a public call to Albanians in Italy to take part and give their contribution to the elections for the European Parliament: “Not only Albania needs Europe, but today Europe needs Albanians of Italy as well. Albanians in Italy should really grasp the opportunity to cast their vote in the European elections. And do not hesitate to vote for the Italian Democratic Party, which is the only major and new force of this country that needs the energy and courage of Matteo Renzi.”
The Prime Minister pointed out that the united Europe is an extraordinary project, the most important project that brought together men and women who took it forward. “We must seize this opportunity to contribute to this process as Albanians, even by taking part in European elections here in Italy.”
