The area of Spitallë in Durrës Municipality is being transformed under a series of major urban requalification projects being implemented over the past few years as part of ongoing efforts to set modern infrastructure standards and significantly improve daily lives of local residents.
Work is nearing completion on construction of 996 new apartments and housing units in “Rilindja” residential complex for the quake-affected families in Durres Municipality areas, a major construction project being implemented multinational real estate development company Emaar Group that has been awarded the contract on construction of new Durres Tourist Port, and funded by the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has assigned Mohamed Alabbar, head of Emaar Group, to coordinate this major project in collaboration with the Albanian government.
Albanian government is funding a project to construct brand new infrastructure of the residential complex through the Albanian Development Fund. The project envisages transformation of the infrastructure of this neighbourhood already built from scratch, with most of its road and urban infrastructure having previously been totally ruined both in engineering, architectonic and environmental aspect.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Durres Mayor Emirjana Sako, visited the area to inspect the ongoing construction work.
“We are visiting the new post-earthquake residential complex, where one can clearly see the advanced stage of work on construction of residential buildings; around 90% of construction work has already completed in one part of the project and finishing touches are being put currently. Work has also progressed on construction of the main infrastructure network, with construction of streets already complete,” Durres Mayor Sako said.
Describing construction of the new residential complex as an extraordinary investment project, PM Rama noted that once whole project completes, the new complex will be one of the most beautiful residential neighbourhoods.
“It is designed to become one of the most beautiful residential complexes as it has been constructed from the scratch and it features modern urban and social infrastructure with the spaces, educational and health facilities,” PM Rama said.
