A brand new stadium of the highest European standards will make the dream of Kukes sports admirers come true soon. Only a few months remain until the deadline set for the completion of work to construct the stadium in the northeast town of Kukes, where the new facility is being built according to the UEFA capacity standards to host both national and international football games.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today visited the town of Kukes, where the Covid-19 pandemic has not slowed down progress of work to build the new stadium.

The Mayor of Kukes Safet Gjici, also president of FK Kukes for five years now, described the stadium project details, saying the new sports facility is designed to become a new centre for the local community’s social development. “The surrounding space will house a football pitch for all local football teams with more than 400 sportsmen, ranging from youngest football players to the main Kukes football team,” Gjici said.

The project developer said that the construction work has entered an advanced stage and work to install power and air conditioning systems is currently underway. “The project also features a conference hall, dressing rooms, as well as other facilities that meet highest standards,” he said.

The project developed also noted that intense work is underway and no jobs have been closed due to the restrictions because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. On the contrary, a number of employees have been hired most recently.

Mayor Gjici said that local Kukes resident show great interest in progress of work t construct the stadium. “There are curious people who come to see progress of work for themselves. They are somehow the supervisors of this project,” he said.

While inspecting outdoor venues around the new stadium, the Premier suggested the possibility of using them for volleyball and basketball courts.
