Prime Minister Edi Rama was honoured today with the Presidential Medal of Independence conferred by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi. Prime Minister Rama was bestowed the Medal of Independence by President Thaçi in a special ceremony in Pristina on the verge of the 10th anniversary of Independence in recognition of “the contribution given to Kosovo’s freedom and Independence.”
“I had the honour and pleasure, by my constitutional and legal authority to award the Presidential Medal to the Prime Minister of Albania, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Independence, on his contribution to the freedom and independence of Kosovo, by highly appreciating and respecting the consolidated commitments to the toughest processes the country has undergone. Edi’s voice has been very powerful in support of Kosovo’s freedom, in support of state-building, consolidation and Kosovo’s swift integration to NATO and the European Union,” President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi said among others.
Grateful to this high recognition, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that “it is one of the most touching moments and a great honour. I would like to express my gratitude to you, in person and I would like to thank Kosovo to this memorable emotion!”
Prime Minister Edi Rama also extended congratulations to Kosovo on Demarcation Agreement with Montenegro, considering it an important step towards Kosovo’s further European integration. “Mr. President I would like to congratulate you on what you and the President of Montenegro did as a firm step towards finalizing a process, which I wish and hope will close with this historic momentum of the 10th anniversary of Independence, to eventually pave the way to Kosovo and to all its citizens, both to move freely likewise all others as well as to testify the seriousness and dedication of Kosovo’s state in the international arena, as a country which knows how to reach an agreement and knows how to respect an agreement,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said.
