The urban transformation of Shkodra is a continuous process, with new projects being developed simultaneously across the city’s roads, neighborhoods, and public spaces. One of the key strategic investments is the Shirokë-Zogaj road, which will establish a vital connection between Albania and Montenegro, positioning Shkodra as a central hub in the region.

This road is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Along with the bypass in the center of Zogaj village, it will become a crucial link for easing traffic and transforming Zogaj into an important corridor for both tourism and economic growth.

Prime Minister Rama visited Shkodra today to inspect several public works at the construction site.

“We began work in November on the road that connects Shiroka to Zogaj and the Montenegro border. The road spans 6.5 kilometers, with the first 4.5 kilometers involving the expansion of the existing lakeside road, while the rest of the route through Zogaj village includes a bypass. As I mentioned, work began last November and is expected to be completed within a year. The road will also feature bicycle lanes along the lakeside,” explained the representative from Albanian Development Fund.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Shkodra emphasized that this new road is a long-awaited investment for the region. “It creates a complete connection and boosts the area’s tourism potential. It also connects with Montenegro via the Kraja region. The road itself is 10 meters wide with two lanes, making it a highly comprehensive and much-anticipated investment for the area,” he stated.

Prime Minister Rama also commended the progress made and noted that the completion of the road will open up new tourist opportunities for the region.
