The several-decade wait for potable water in the villages of Miras and Devoll has ended. Around 1200 households in nine villages will now have clean and treated 24-hour water supply connected to their houses. “Around 56 kilometres of the new quality water supply network has been already laid. Most importantly, the water’s quality is that of the oligomineral water, which local residents will receive 24 hours a day from now on,” the head of the Albanian Development Fund Dritan Agolli while accompanying Prime Minister Edi Rama during an inspection of the water supply project.
Meanwhile, work is underway on water supply project for five more villages in the area, as part of an ambitious programme to ensure 24-hour potable water supply to every household in this administrative unit and in every part of the country. “The project on the water supply network for five other villages will complete soon and it will provide 24-hour supply to all residents in the entire administrative unit of Miras,” lawmaker Niko Peleshi said, adding: “We have also heeded a request from the community not to use a water spring that has been inscribed on the protected zones list, an interesting small waterfall, and we resorted to other alternatives. The natural wealth has been preserved, while abundant water supply has been ensured thanks to this project.”
