A leader with vision who wants to lay the foundations of his country’s economic growth and modernization, USAID administrator Gayle Smith defined Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During the first day of his stay in Washington, Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the USAID headquarters and met with the General Administrator of the largest United States Government aid agency.
Prime Minister Rama briefed Ms Smith on the reforms undertaken by the Albanian Government, and urged the promotion of cooperation and increased support from the USAID to the regional centre against violent extremism to be built in Tirana, as well as an ongoing modernization of public services in Albania as an effective way to fight corruption.
Administrator Smith thanked the Albanian Prime Minister for the commitment of the Albanian government, and assured USAID’s full support to the project on the launch of educative curricula on religious beliefs in schools. “This initiative is something incredibly clever” – Smith said. “If young generations, not only in Albania but everywhere in the world, are educated on religious beliefs, it will be much more difficult for them to be victims of the extremist manipulations, which nowadays are a major problem everywhere, including Europe.”
