The Trans-Balkan Road is an investment of strategic importance for the infrastructure not only of the city of Vlora, but also of the country. Currently, following an investment of approximately 346 million ALL, works are continuing apace to finalize the 1.14 km long road section, which connects the Trans-Balkan road with the highway Fier-Vlore. The project developed in accordance to every European road standards, and supported also in the Regulatory plan of Vlore, concerned road pavement, the arrangement of high water canals, the network of street lighting, and the placement of signs and vegetation along the road. As of today, works have been completed to expand the road, moving the aqueduct line, while they are still continuing to build the road borders on both sides, along with the traffic island.

The completion of the Trans-Balkan road will significantly improve the movement of vehicles both at the gates of and within the city of Vlora, as well as in the port and industrial zones and the coastal area.

Accompanied by ADF Director General Benet Beci, Prime Minister Edi Rama visited today the port to watch closely the progress of works. He met and discussed with managers on the ongoing works and on the progress of the project so far.

ADF Director Benet Beci briefed the Prime Minister on the elements of the project. “The whole road is 30 meters wide. The 3 meter wide sidewalks have been provided with a lighting system and greenery on both sides”.

In conversation with experts, Prime Minister Rama asked them to pay great attention to the quality and standards of these works, which should provide an infrastructure worthy of a Mediterranean tourist town. “After this, we will continue with the Trans-Balkan road stretching up to the port directorate, and then the road “Dhimiter Konomi”, the road of the polyclinics, and all these together will create a whole new situation. This part needs to be done with maximum quality, because this is the new gate of Vlore. Everything must have European standards. This is the entrance gate to a Mediterranean tourist city, the sidewalks have to be perfect, the lighting system must be perfect, the greenery as well. Not fully grown trees must be planted on both sides of the road, in order to create a crown and overshadow within two or three years. Then we will continue with the other segment stretching to the port directorate. What matters is that this segment in the gates of the city must be completely different.”

A thoroughly reconstructed according to modern standards new road was added to the road infrastructure of the city of Vlore. Approximately 59 million ALL were invested for this 1 km long road, which stretches from the municipality of the city to the hospital. It replaces the old and narrow road, which was completely amortized, where sidewalks, lighting and greenery were almost unexciting. Now, the hospital road is made available to citizens in its optimal conditions.

This already completed road is 6 meters wide, and has a 3 meter long emergency lane. It has been expanded and equipped with the piping system for drinking water canals, benches and the appropriate signage. In addition, the green and recreational areas along the road provide a relaxing environment for residents.

While crossing the new road, Prime Minister Rama had brief conversations with residents, who said that this new road has significantly improved their daily lives.
