In the first half of 2024, 4.5 million foreign visitors came to Albania, 34% more than in the same period of 2023. The month of June brought 1.2 million inflows to our country or 19.1% more than June of the year before.
The sustainable growth of tourism in Albania has also been positively evaluated by the European Travel Commission.
Data from the European Commission report shows that our country has seen the strongest market growth in the first 6 months of 2024, keeping the first place in the Balkans. The European Travel Commission report shows an increase of 86% since 2019, followed by Serbia with 48% and Montenegro with 31%. According to the report, these countries are increasingly perceived as attractive destinations by travellers.
Meanwhile, the number of Kosovo Albanians who have chosen to spend their holidays in Albania this year has also increased. From January to June, 1.7 million arrivals of Kosovo citizens were registered, which is 25% more than last year.
The number of Turkish tourists has also risen sharply, by 61% compared to last year.
