Prime Minister Edi Rama was invited today to attend the solemn session of the Assembly of Kosovo, on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of Independence. A red letter day that still carries an extraordinary burden, Prime Minister Rama said in his greetings after the solemn session.
“My best wishes to you, and through you to all our brothers and sisters here in Kosovo, and to those from Kosovo who live abroad, on this very important moment, on the eve of Independence, another anniversary that, like any other anniversary, still carries an extraordinary burden because the tough days of a not yet far past are still fresh.
I wish again today, that Ramush Haradinaj will return home as soon as possible. Without his presence, this day is incomplete. On the other hand, his absence is also an invitation for all of us to reflect on this day on how much there is still to be done in view of the relationship, not ours, not of Kosovo’s, but of all others with the glorious war of the Liberation Army of Kosovo.
Since I had the chance to personally extend my wishes to the President of Kosovo, to the Prime Minister, to the Speaker of the Assembly, I wish all representatives of political forces represented in this Parliament on this special day. In my view, this red letter day must be regarded as a blessed day not only for the Albanians living in Kosovo, but also for the Serbs and all the others because Kosovo is proving day after day that it is one radiant example of harmonious coexistence among those who differ from each other, and it is proving everybody that it is not only desirable but also possible.
Once again it is a particular pleasure, – not just in terms of protocol formality, or to deliver a beautiful message on the occasion, – to be here in Pristina, and it is an honour to be here today, invited to the ceremony of the most important day of contemporary Kosovo, its Independence Day.”
