Llesh Nik Daka united high school in the town of Lezhe has been transformed from a 3D design project into an impressive reality, ready to welcome its students back. The new educational facility totally rebuilt as part as the ongoing post-earthquake Reconstruction Program is now a much stronger, safer and more beautiful building that provides spaces for contemporary education and much better conditions than the previous school flattened by the devastating earthquake last November.
As many as 535 students and teachers will return to their newly-built school meet contemporary European standards like any education facility in the European Union member states.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of State for Reconstruction, Arben Ahmetaj, and the Mayor of Lezhe, Pjerin Ndreu, visited the reborn Llesh Nik Daka high school building.
“The school has 20 classrooms, 4 labs and four classrooms for kindergarten children. Modern sports grounds have been built just like in every other new educational facility across the country. The new building resembles more to an academic institution rather than an educational facility,” Reconstruction Minister Ahmetaj said.
The government head was impressed by what he called “the Olympic-size gym” of the new school.
The school, one of the largest in the country, is one of the best examples of the Reconstruction Program.

During his visit to Lezhe, the Premier also inspected the ongoing works at the reconstruction site of the new development area, named Lezhe 1, where new residential buildings are being constructed following demolition of the old apartment buildings that sustained severe structural damages because of the earthquake last November. As many as 184 affected families will be housed in the three new residential buildings whose construction is already underway.
The new complex of the residential buildings will radically change the town of Lezhe, with the urban requalification and reconstruction projects being designed to give a complete new look to the town and a fresh impetus to the social and economic life.
