The road linking Roskovec and Poshnje, a long-cherished dream of local residents, is being constructed under a project designed to transform it into a segment that meets highest European standards. The new road will ease both traffic and the transport of the locally grown agricultural produce.

In the framework of his visit to Berat, Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the ongoing work to construct the new road, a project scheduled to complete ahead of the upcoming tourist season. “It is a very important road segment not only for the municipality of Dimal, but for the entire network connecting Berat with the southern Albania, as it will provide quick access of locally grown produce to the market, and it would turn Berat into one of the connection points with southern Albania. It is an important investment that was scheduled to start last year, but local residents have understood the fact that the earthquake and the pandemic caused difficulties, but I am now confident that construction of this road will complete ahead of the new tourist season,” the Minister of Tourism Blendi Klosi said.

Ura Vajgurore municipality most recently changed its name to Dimal, the name of an ancient site in the area. “The new name has been welcomed by the community,” Mayor Juliana Memaj said.

Young people are increasingly investing and engaging in agricultural activities in the area. “The new name, coupled with the strategy on development of the local economy, will soon create the brand of the locally grown produce. The new road will provide farmers access to the market,” Memaj said.
