Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Under the motto “48 hours with the police”, for 2 days in a row, today and tomorrow, the square before the Palace of Congresses will turn into an open exhibition where “assets” of the State Police will be exposed.

Effectives from all special units, such as RENEA and DELTA FORCE, but also from other departments will attend the fair, which was visited this afternoon by Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri.

The Prime Minister said that this is a very good opportunity for all citizens to get to know the blue uniforms, and added that the new uniforms will be introduced very soon in a special event that will include also our State Police in the best European standards in terms of aesthetics.

After visiting the fair, Prime Minister Edi Rama released a brief statement for the media.

“I was really curious to see this fair when I heard about it by the minister, and now that I’ve seen it, I think that it was really worth it to use this space so that citizens can see closely the State Police and all of its instruments, and get a very summarized historic information on the uniforms and instruments of the State Police.

Soon, I think here, we will do a magnificent presentation of the new uniforms that will include our State Police in European police aesthetic standards, in addition to giving it the necessary package of uniforms for a dignified police. I believe that this is an important moment to think about how many things have changed in the State Police, how much the State Police has taken a dimension of dignity, professionalism, civility, as a servant of the community and of citizens. But this doesn’t mean that what we have done so far is enough. On the contrary. This means that precisely because so many things have been done, we have to keep going to do even more things that still remain to be done.

And it is normal to make others jealous, and even rancorous, when you are so much exposed. But beyond jealousy and rancour, there is also a front of the evil trying to resist by all means this transformation of the State Police, and this implies something very important. It implies the ultimate detachment of the State Police from the lap of crime, the ultimate detachment of the State Police from the clutches of a politics that was used to use the State Police and make it available to illegal interests. It implies that the more the State Police is attacked by this front, the more we will be motivated to take further its reformation, to take further its transformation, and which is more important than everything else, citizens will be increasingly motivated to support the State Police. Just go and ask citizens today about the daily events, and you will hear from them by whose side they are standing.”
