In the second week of the operation against informality, Prime Minister Edi Rama stopped in one of the main shopping streets of Lezhë to see the progress of this operation. Clothing stores, sale points of various items, coffee shops, vet pharmacies, etc. were some of the business units visited by the Prime Minister, while groups of inspectors were verifying their compliance with the law, in terms of registration and provision with cash registers.
The Prime Minister met with the owners of these businesses, and with inspection groups. Small business owners in Lezhë said that they support this operation, because in addition to being a fair operation that should have been done long time ago, it will promote fair competition among them.
“We should all be equal, for we don’t have to pay for others who don’t pay. I am very happy that Albania is reaching other countries”, the owner of a clothes shop said.
The owner of a small business proudly told the Prime Minister that he has been the first one in Lezhe to have a cash register.
“I pay every tax to the state, and this is a very good thing because we must be all equal. This is the best initiative, and I congratulate you on this” – he said.
According to the Prime Minister, issuing the tax receipt means establishing equality in the conduct of the business.
“Equality is good for all, so we won’t have some people issuing tax receipts, and others taking advantage from this” – the Prime Minister said.
The owner of a coffee shop was concerned about the high price of cash registers but the Prime Ministers ensured him that starting from today their price will be reduced along with the cost for their maintenance.
“We have made an intervention, and the price of the cash registers will be reduced from 330 to 279 Euros, while the maintenance costs will have a drastic reduction. Basically, we will have the lowest price in the region”, – the Prime Minister noted. In addition, he urged businessmen to report any improper behavior of the inspection groups.
Compared to the period from 1 to 6 September 2014, the number of issued tax receipts has increased from 3.9 million to 6.2 million in the period from 1 to 6 September 2015, and the taxable value has increased from 68 million to 82 million dollars.
