STATEMENT OF THE ALBANIAN GOVERNMENT

 

The Government of the Republic of Albania will be part of the coalition to support the Government of Iraq with arms and ammunition in the fight against the terrorists of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). As a member of NATO, Albania has given since the very beginning its contribution in the fight against terrorism and has been and will be part of the international coalitions in Afghanistan, Iraq and beyond, along with other allied and partner countries.

The ISIL barbaric practices and the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Iraq confront us with moral responsibility to do everything possible against the darkness that the blind forces of terrorism are trying to bring upon mankind.

Every decision and contribution on the part of Albania in this respect is based on international best practices, and synchronized with our strategic partners and our allies in NATO and the EU.
