Following a report, the Sector for the Investigation of Corruption in the State Police has begun criminal proceedings against the Director of the Regional Hospital of Berat, who in cooperation with several employees of this hospital and one of the MPs of the area, have committed the criminal offense of active corruption in elections as well as the use of public functions in political or electoral activities, as provided for by articles 328 and 328 /a of the amended Criminal Code.

Under these circumstances, I urge the General Prosecutor’s Office to take all necessary steps to follow the procedures under the law and to reach a final conclusion regarding the procedures initiated by the Investigation and Corruption Sector.
