Statement by Prime Minister Rama after today’s developments in the parliamentary session:
Firstly, this is a very sad show involving a bunch of pseudo politicians and rascals where unfortunately the former blindly believe that can take advantage from the latter and the latter equally blindly try to take advantage of the former.
But the cost of this is borne by the Albanians who expect the Parliament to discuss about the reforms, to discuss about the laws needed by the reform process and the modernization of the country, to discuss about the economy, about the numerous social problems that we have inherited from past; instead they are forced to listen to the psychic stream flows of the former prime minister.
Secondly, and I am quite frank about this, it is unfortunate that Albania’s opposition today, besides abandoning its mission to represent the voice of the citizens who voted it, has become the voice of the darkest corners of a world from which politics is decided to separate and from which Albania will definitely separate.
Thirdly, with regard to the present case, I believe that today the former prime minister told us openly what actually has been his standard during all the years of his governance: a man at the helm of power silencing prosecution and still to this day has left unanswered “21 January”, as he has left unanswered too many dramas and other corruption scandals.
We have another standard that we have announced and on which we are determined to move forward; it is the standard of separate works.
It is up to justice, to the prosecution and to the entire investigative process to shed a light on the truth of this farce that makes us all be ashamed, because just imagine what our international partners hear and understand from all this nonsense.
Our Minister of Interior told yesterday very clearly, and did not bring any charges, but dismantled completely the charge brought.
Although this farce involves a bunch of characters, neither the Minister of Interior and none of us is trying to take advantage of the family or political affiliation of these characters with the Democratic Party, the Republican Party or all the rag-tag and bobtail of an opposition that is melting in the sludge, but once again we leave it to the prosecution and to the thorough investigation. If we talk about institutions, these are the institutions.
Transforming the parliament podium in drums to accompany the sword dance is foolishness; it is not the path towards institutions.
