Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Prime Minister Edi Rama was this afternoon in Fier to inaugurate the 8th modern Job Office. Accompanied by Minister of State Ilirijan Celibashi, leaders of the Ministry of Social Welfare and local government, the Prime Minister visited the premises of the office and discussed with employees and managers the performance of the Office and its expectations.

One of the employees in the Office, with eleven years of experience, said that lately the confidence of jobseekers in these institutions has increased. In addition, she stressed the importance of the role played by these offices in vocational orientation for job seekers.

Minister Ilirjan Celibashi considered this new approach of the government with regard to the service to citizens and the public.

“This office will not solve the employment problem in the city of Fier, but it is a very helpful mechanism for both jobseekers and employers. We are confident that in Fier there are many opportunities and potentials to provide jobs, and at the same time there is a great need for employment. That is why I believe that through this office the interests of both parties will be well managed and both of them will benefit”, the Minister said.

Prime Minister Rama praised the commitment of the Job Offices also in terms of direct interest for entrepreneurs and announced intervention with additional funding to support the Fasson industry, which means additional funding to support employment. Everything that will come from revenues from contributions will return back to the enterprise in the form of an employment promotion fund. “We have had considerable success in the first phase of employment promotion fund. There have been more applications than the previous year and the beneficiaries have made available projects that will bring back employment growth. At the same time we must intervene with another supporting fund for the Fasson industry. As we have promised, revenues that come from contributions will return to them in the form of an employment promotion fund, and thanks to those projects they could directly benefit from financial support despite the jobs that they would create”, the Prime Minister said.

Referring to the 8th modern Job Office, the Prime Minister said that the first seven offices have contacted 22.935 employers in a very short period. “They are a first contact point between employers and job seekers and have given job seekers the chance to see within their area of residence what jobs there are, based on their experience, knowledge, skills, degrees, without being obliged to hopelessly wander around.”, – the Prime Minister said, and added that “The number of job seekers asking for information has tripled”.

The Job Offices have a positive impact as far as formalization is concerned. “In 300 days only, let’s consider this period although job offices started working later than the government, the number of employees has increased by 43.89 as results from the list of taxpayers in the Republic of Albania. Those are new jobs, formalized jobs. We will go on in the process of job formalization, as well as with creating new jobs. This figure, unimaginable 300 days ago, today is proof that we are creating new jobs; we are giving everyday more dignity to people who live from work, by fighting daily the black market labour and slavery that in a devastated Albania of the recent years were formalized and transformed into status. We are creating new perspectives for all those who want to progress through their work and through contributions coming from work “- the Prime Minister said.

Thanks to these Job Offices and the demands in the labor market, 3500 people have addressed to the Public Center of Vocational Training in order to train in a specific technical and professional skill and later get a job.

“There are 9 thousand histories of success of people that have found employment through these Job Offices. In very short period of time, seven of them have provided jobs to 9 thousand people with different education background, from finance to economy, engineers, tailors, receptionists, drivers and other professions required in the job market. Four thousand people have found employment in manufacturing through these Job Offices, another one thousand have been employed in information and communication, while another one thousand in services; 500 in commerce and so on. All those who look at these Job Offices from afar, thinking that here we provide only manual labor, are wrong. They should come to these Job Offices, look at the vacancies listed and they will see that there is a full range of jobs, from occupations that require higher education to professions that require technical and professional skills without which, of course, it is impossible to get a job, ” Prime Minister Rama stressed as he invited citizens that attended the ceremony to apply for job.
