Albanian Government Council of Ministers

An initial group of 12 families have been provided shelter under a government-funded social housing program in the Municipality of Kuçova. Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected first-hand the formerly oil storehouses that have been transformed into residential buildings under a housing fund to accommodate needy and low-income families. The number of residential homes will grow after construction of a new building in a near future.

“This has been an industrial site home to oil storehouses. The first new houses are ready for some 12 families to first move into, while new houses will be built in a near future. We will cooperate with the Housing Agency to construct another apartment building,” Mayor of Kuçova Selfo Kapllani said.

On her part, lawmaker representing the district of Berat, Ermonela Felaj noted that in addition to these apartment buildings, the Municipality of Kuçova has supported the reconstruction of the houses for 37 low-income and poor families. “The Municipality has been assisted with another funding as part of the government’s housing policies to reconstruct a number of houses, mainly belonging to the Roma community,” Felaj said.
