Another recently transformed space for kids reopened its doors in Tirana. Tirana Zoo Park is a new modern design of the previous zoo park that has now given way to an amazing space for children with more wild animals being housed in the new park, which also offers more recreational spaces for visitors.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly-rehabilitated Tirana Zoo Park. The newly-upgraded park will feature an expanded space for the wild animals, as well as playgrounds for kids, infrastructure, areas for picnics and commercial areas. The zoo is designed to be probably the most modern one in the Balkans and benefit from reconceptualised spaces and more space for animals.
Tirana Zoo Park houses more than 30 species and a large array of 160 wild animals and birds, which will be introduced to the zoo now. The Zoo Park design is a novelty combining entertainment with children’s education.

Prime Minister Edi Rama’s remarks at inauguration of the Tirana Zoo Park:
Good morning everyone!
I am very pleased that Tirana Mayor finally delivered on his promise. He had actually pledged to rebuild the zoo park long time ago, but it took a huge volume of work and a very complex work process to tackle a series of problems that emerge all of the sudden, even though when such problems are actually totally irrelevant, and here we are today at the new Tirana Zoo Park, a fabulous and completely reborn space, incomparable in nothing to what it was previously even during its best days and let alone later during the period of gloomy days. The zoo features wonderful spaces for the animals, as well as fantastic spaces for children, parents, grandparents.
Besides being a space hosing full of attractions and recreational opportunities, this is also a learning space, an education space with the animal world, a space to get to know a lot of the things brought together, while books should be sought and with teachers, educators, caregivers who are available to children, but also with a structure that is available to schools to have an organized relationship with the Tirana Zoo.
It is really a fantastic day for the children in Tirana, but also for the children from other cities, because no zoo parks are built in every city of other much richer countries, let alone Albania. Zoos are concentrated in different parts of the country and children visit them while visiting that part of the country on a special day.
To this end, together with the Minister of Education and the Minister of State for Youth and Children we will explore ways to organize excursions for schoolchildren from other parts of the country to come and spend a beautiful half day visiting this zoo.
I would cut it short and wholeheartedly thank all and everyone who worked on this project and made it possible for the Tirana Zoo Park to reopen its doors and it is actually the work of many people ranging from the designers, architects, and the whole links of a long chain which allowed not only for the opening of the park, but also for the maintenance and proper functioning of this facility.
I am extremely happy that, like the stadium, this structure is located right in the heart of the capital, so it is another world close to the daily world of housing and other activities, which makes it much easier for parents to get here and the opportunity to come here, but what makes it so much more beautiful and much healthier, so to say, is the contact between everyday urban life and this life here is also very special and the activities of this life here, completely different activities from those of everyday urban life.
Thank you very much everyone and may all the children, parents and grandparents enjoy this new zoo park at the heart of the capital.
