Prime Minister Edi Rama meeting with artists on competition under Albanian government’s latest initiative on art in public spaces:
It is our ambition that the street art and works of arts in public spaces actually becomes an annual government programme, designed to include not only public spaces, namely the road infrastructure in this case, but also the indoor and outdoor public spaces of the state institutions.
It is a programme that will certainly call for the experience test for us to see how it would progress and could be improved, which are going to be the suggestions or the critiques from the artists community with the aim of improving the quality of this kind of art programme. In order for this programme to last, it would be best that a relevant body of the art in public spaces is established.
This programme will definitely inspire refreshing and positive energies in the territory. Certainly being myself a firm believer in beauty, I have no doubt that this kind of programme, gradually and not immediately, but with the creation of a critical mass, will have both the right social effect and the right economic effect. On the other hand, best effort will definitely be made to ensure fair and quality selections.
A limit of three draft-ideas has been set, but it is not limited to just one project idea for an individual or a group.
It is important that the significant allocated funding is used and provide authors the opportunity to collect the required and needed equipment and material and then examine other aspects based on this very first experience, as it is something totally new to us and be prepared to show your understanding if it fails to be a perfect process.
