Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Thanks to the investments made in the last three years, the hospital of Shkodra is today the second most modern hospital in the country. The 5-million investments made in three years, has turned the Regional Hospital of Shkodra into a model of medical service. This is the first time in 25 years that this hospital, designed to become a reference centre for the northern area, has provided 4 new health services: the coronary angiography, the chemotherapy, orthopaedic dentures and MRI. A new CPR department has been added recently to the hospital. It was rebuilt from foundations according to the best contemporary standards. 500 million ALL have been invested not only in infrastructure, but also in the medical equipment of this department. Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, inspected the new premises. According to the medical staff, the hospital has undergone a radical change.

“You could tell it was a CPR only by its name. It was just a room with only two ventilators working. It had never been painted. Now the CPR structure has every modern standard”, one of the CPR doctors said.

Thanks to the investments made so far, the hospital of Shkodra has become one of the well-built and empowered health centres in the country, after the University Hospital Centre “Mother Teresa” in Tirana. Minister Manastirliu said that the new polyvalent CPR of Shkodra has doubled its capacities with completely new equipment. Given that we want to transform the hospital of Shkodra into a centre of reference for the entire north, we’ve been investing intensively for 3 years in services that were not provided before. We have provided the Hemodynamic service for the first time. We have opened the Chemotherapy Centre, a new service that did not exist before. We have the new Dialysis service. We have also improved the MRI service which performs approximately 3000 diagnostics annually. This means that after the TUHC, this hospital is today among the most empowered hospitals, with the most advanced capacities, and with a staff and team of professionals. ”

One member of the hospital staff thanked the Prime Minister for the work done. “We’re here to thank you for everything good you have done for Shkodra. God bless you!”

“I haven’t done anything for Shkodra. Voltana has”, the Prime Minister replied jokingly. But the staff member insisted on thanking the Prime Minister. “Voltana has done nothing. You have done everything.”

Razma is amongst the most picturesque sceneries of the Albanian Alps, which the Urban Renaissance is turning into an important tourist centre of the Alps. The new 2.500-square meter pedestrian area, a territory cleaned out of illegal occupations and kiosks, and the recovery of the groundwater systems, have encouraged the interest in private investments that develop the extraordinary potential of the area for reviving mountain tourism. During his inspection tour in the region of Shkodra, Prime Minister Rama stopped also in this tourist point. He was accompanied by the Mayor of the Great Highlands, and prefect Radovani.

“When Sali was in power, they divided it and occupied it with kiosks and cement blocks”, Mayor Marinaj told about Ramza. First he had to face the demolition of informal constructions, and then redesign the promenade area of this tourist point, one of the most beautiful in the country.

“It is a 2.500-square metre promenade area. We’ve worked on the drainage system. Where possible and necessary, we have removed some kiosks”, the Mayor of the Great Highlands said. He noted that interest in Ramza is increasing, as people are now considering spending here their holidays. In the period of July-August everything is booked. Vacationers spend here up to two weeks.”

The Prime Minister assured that this is the beginning, and that the Renaissance of Ramza as an important touristic centre for the country will continue. This is another beautiful spot of the new municipality. A development point. There is a gravity here that has been created. Now it is possible to improve it step by step, as private investments will be encouraged.”
