“The Prizren League” kindergarten in Paskuqan, Kamze Municipality, is being transformed into a model educational facility, not only for the area, where such a significant investment is being carried out in the pre-primary education infrastructure, but also for whole Albania. Brand new infrastructure, five times bigger in space size, is being built from scratch on the site of the former derelict kindergarten building that was flattened by the devastating earthquake that hit the country a year ago.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the Municipality of Kamze to closely inspect progress of the construction work that is set to complete in second half of December.

“The construction work kicked off around four months ago. The new building is five times bigger than the existing one, which was destroyed by the earthquake. Highest quality construction standards are being implemented. The outdoor premises cover a significantly large area and the new kindergarten will accommodate 224 kids. Fortunately, for the very first time, a model kindergarten where kids will be served lunch meal is being built in Kamze. The new kindergarten will house classrooms, a library and playgrounds for kids,” Kamze Mayor  Rakip Suli said as he provided a brief project description. Suli noted that such an educational facility has been missing in the past 30 years in Kamze. “Local residents are very pleased with the kindergarten project. It is a project that will become a model for other similar educational infrastructure projects,” he added.

The construction work is nearing completion and the new kindergarten will be soon equipped with needed materials. Congratulating the builder for the quality construction work, PM Rama highlighted the project’s special elements.

Rebuilding of the “Jashar Hoxha” school in Kamze is part of the ongoing reconstruction program, which is being reconstructed to become a much larger, more beautiful and stronger building after the damages it sustained due to the earthquake last November, as well as after the degradation due to the lack of maintenance since its construction 22 years ago. Kamze Mayor said that the new school building will not only meet highest standards for habitability and environmental comfort, but it will also provide spaces for contemporary education for 1050 students. The new school includes classrooms, laboratories and sports grounds. “The sports grounds will be built right there that previously was covered by thorns, spiny bushes. It is an extraordinary investment.”

Not only the building will be a brand new one – Suli went on saying – but also the support material that will be provided by the Ministry of Education.  “The educational infrastructure in Kamze Municipality will set a model for whole Albania. We have been focusing on rebuilding educational infrastructure in the area after 30 years of neglect,” Suli said, adding that a number of new schools and kindergarten are being built in Kamze.
