Construction of the Niko Hoxha kindergarten, part of the new residential block in the town of Kamze, is expected to complete very soon to allow around 200 kids to return to their new education and entertainment habitat designed to meet best optimum standards.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today visited Kamez to closely inspect the new educational facility, a model infrastructure for other school and kindergarten buildings.

The Niko Hoxha kindergarten covers an area of 2000 square meters and houses eight classrooms for some 200 children. The outdoor premises include sport grounds and playgrounds for the kindergarten children. “The kindergarten building is five times larger than the old one and it is being built in line with best standards. For the first time, kids in this kindergarten will be served foods at mealtime, with every child having their dining table, bed and desk, and a playground,” Kamze Mayor Rakip Suli said.

In terms of its functions and capacities, the Niko Hoxha kindergarten is equal to a school. “It is simply called a kindergarten, but it is a true school building in terms of its functions, capacities, the psychological care and nurse service, the bedrooms and the dining rooms,” the Head of the Albanian Development Fund Dritan Agolli said.

Work is set to kick off very soon to construct a complex of 270 apartments for the quake-affected families adjacent to the new kindergarten building. “With their new houses, the school, the kindergarten and the health care centre, local residents here will enjoy improved quality and much higher living standards than before. We are currently discussing plans with the Director of the Albanian Development Fund to integrate the new individual homes as part of this residential neighbourhood. The new infrastructure will include apartment buildings, the kindergarten, as well as public community spaces,” the Minister of State for  the Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj said.
