Albanian Government Council of Ministers

While in Kosovo, Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with the Mayor of Pristina, Mr Shpend Ahmeti who is also a representative of the movement “Vetëvendosje” (Self-determination).

Mayor of Pristina Ahmeti was pleased with the visit of Prime Minister Rama, also because of Prime Minister Rama’s long experience as former Mayor of Tirana.

“It is a pleasure for me, and it has always been to have Prime Minister Rama in Pristina and discuss with him every political issue concerning Pristina and the whole country. First, because I always learn new things from Prime Minister Rama in terms of how to run a municipality, due to his long experience. But at the same time, given the current situation, we took this opportunity to discuss also current politics in the northern part of the country, the discussions, the ongoing dialogue and the latest incident. On this occasion, we informed Mr Rama, and exchanged opinions and positions. For me, first of all as mayor of Pristina but also as a representative of the movement “Vetëvendosje”. We heard the official position of the Prime Minister and of the government in general”, Ahmeti said.

Prime Minister Rama considered the visit in the municipality of Pristina as a meeting with good friends and protagonists of the political life of Kosovo, with whom he shares the interest to exchange views and opinions on political developments. Prime Minister Rama praised Mayor Ahmenti’s work in every sector in the Municipality of Pristina.

“Thanks for the hospitality! A visit to the Municipality of Pristina is inevitable whenever I come here, where I am pleased to meet with friends and protagonists of the political life in Kosovo. Definitely it is always a pleasure and a special interest to hear Shpend’s views, not just as mayor but as one of the protagonists of the political life of Kosovo. It’s no secret that I am always interested in learning what “Vetëvendosje” thinks about everything that happens. On the other hand, we talked about the progress of works in Pristina, and I follow with great sympathy the Mayor’s efforts because, having been a mayor myself, I know that it is the hardest job in the world. I hope that we will do good works together, taking also advantage of the new and very important relationship created between the Municipality of Tirana and the Municipality of Pristina, and between the two mayors, as well as in view of the agreement that the two have entered with several other mayors in the territories inhabited by Albanians.”
