Prime Minister Edi Rama received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, John Baird.

Minister Baird congratulated the Prime Minister on the constructive policy in the Balkans and on Albania’s contribution to peace and security in facing today’s security challenges on a global scale.

Prime Minister Rama noted the progress made in the region, the lack of conflict and the peaceful living of the countries, being at the same time aware of the fragility of peace and the potential risk of increased extremism in the world today.

The meeting focused on the importance of strengthening the partnership in the field of security between the two countries and within the Atlantic Alliance, in order to face common challenges of security threatened by terrorism and extremism.

The two dignitaries talked about strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, noting that the presence of Canadian investment in Albania is very important.
