The tradition of voluntary blood donation in the Prime Minister’s office continued this year as an act of human solidarity, joining the slogan of World Blood Donor Day 2022 “Join efforts and save lives!”
Prime Minister Edi Rama, a regular blood donor for almost two decades now, was the first to donate blood today in aid of the categories that need it most.
A mobile unit of the Albanian Red Cross was installed in the library premises housed inside the government seat, where the administration staff of the PM’s office donated blood, an act which other than helping to save lives is also a healthy process for the donor body. “We have to raise awareness that blood donation offers many health benefits. The Red Cross has made sure that there is blood donation every day and we have achieved our goal,” the Red Cross volunteer said, appealing to the state administration employees to join the initiative every year.
This year’s World Blood Donor Day slogan is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives” to draw attention to the roles that voluntary blood donations play in saving lives and enhancing solidarity within communities.
