The new residential neighbourhoods, a combination of the single-family homes and the apartment buildings, the public services institutions and recreational spaces, will soon become the newest urban development model for the cities that were worst hit by the devastating earthquake on November 26 last year. Work continues ceaselessly to construct one of these residential blocks in Fushe Kruje as part of the ongoing post-earthquake reconstruction process in the country. Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of State for the Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj, and the Mayor of Kruja, Atur Bushi, today visited the site where the new “Renaissance” neighbourhood is being built. The government head inspected progress of the construction work since his last visit to this site.

“It is a combination of 128 individual homes and 100 apartments. Construction work has progressed rapidly. The work is nearing completion and the keys to 50 of these new houses will be handed over to the quake affected families by end of this year, while entire construction process here will complete within deadline as stipulated by the contract,” the Reconstruction Minister said.

In few weeks’ time, work is scheduled to kick off for the construction of 15 residential buildings, which will include a new health care centre, public service office, green areas, as well as a modern market for the locally grown produce.

“It is set to be one of the most beautiful areas as part of the reconstruction projects. The Mayor has already launched the procedure to select the priority families eligible to benefit housing here.  The combination of the work with the infrastructure and the whole architecture of the residential complex make it an example of the reconstruction projects in the area,” Ahmetaj added.

New “Renaissance” neighbourhood will cover a 10-ha area and will radically improve the life quality of children, parents and grandparents, who will soon reside in this area and will enjoy unparalleled better living spaces than the houses they used to live in just a year ago.
