Albanian Government Council of Ministers

PRIME MINISTER EDI RAMA RECEIVED THE EXCELLENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES OF TIRANA IN THE GARDEN OF THE PALACE OF BRIGADES.

Prime Rama joined the joy of the young students to celebrate with them graduation from high school, a very important event, which the Prime Minister called “an important station, yet the first in your lives.” The evening was even more special due to the presence of students who managed to graduate from high school with excellent results, “Something for which nowadays – Prime Minister said, “you deserve to be called “heroes”.”

“In Albania the greatest heroes are those who live in the difficult environment of the school and school yards, and yet manage to take only excellent grades. To live in the neighborhood, in the yard, in the corridors and in classrooms where you have lived for all these years until graduation, and take only excellent grades, this really mean to do something heroic. And I really consider you heroes, “- Prime Minister said in greeting the young students.

While making a brief presentation of the history of the Palace of Brigades, which initially was the Palace of the King and later turned to a place used only for official ceremonies with limited participation, the Prime Minister said that here onwards it will be a place dedicated to “ordinary people who do extraordinary things.”

“We would be very happy to come here and honor with every due respect of a higher state ceremony ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Because, ultimately, developed countries are not distinguished for extraordinary people, but they are distinguished by the fact that ordinary people do extraordinary things, “- Prime Minister said.

And in these ordinary people with extraordinary willpower, Prime Minister praised the excellent graduates who managed to fulfill their decision to be the best, as the proper starting point for being the best professionals in the future. At the same time, he encouraged them not to forget to be good citizens as well.

“Of course, behind your excellent grades stay mom and dad, they pressure and their care, but ultimately these result are what you have decided to become. You took this decision long ago and now you are holding in your hands the document that proves you have stayed 100% faithful to your commitment. I want to believe that this decision is not only to be good students and then good professionals, but also good citizens. For, a good man or a good professional is not necessarily a good citizen, “- Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister assured the young students that the Government will support them in their further journey towards knowledge. The Prime Minister also talked about the recently presented reform of the University Education. This reform is very important to excellent students because they will benefit from government scholarships.

“We are placing a very important milestone for the further progress of University Education, especially for that part of the reform that imposes the Government to support with scholarship funds all excellent students. The moment this reform passes, all students who study in Albania and who deserve it, will have the benefit of this privilege which they will earn with their hard work.

We will continue to support also those who study abroad as provided by law for certain schools, but we will do our best to include even more students in our financial support for studies abroad, “- the Prime Minister said.

Minister of Education, Lindita Nikolla, laid emphasis on building a new school-paretns partnership which would be, she said, the key to success.

Graduates thanked the Prime Minister for this special evening. They showed enthusiasm for the future and an impressive clarity about what they want to achieve.

“Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister, for we have never been appreciated this much. I am happy to be here today, and so are all the young people in Albania” – one of the graduates said.

“Those people are crazy enough to think they can change the world, and they are the only ones who can do it. It is us, the youth of Albania who will bring change to our country, because we are the best at what we know better, “- was the promise of another graduate.

The evening was spent among the enthusiasm of the young students. At the end of the evening, the Prime Minister had pictures taken with them and said: “If I were asked what the most beautiful selfie of Albania would be, I would say one of your faces.”

The evening was attended also by the two deputy ministers of Education, Nora Malaj and Arbër Mazniku.
