“Lungomare+” project, an extension of the original Waterfront Promenade project in the city of Vlora, is gradually taking its final shape by creating a harmony with natural beach, remarkable urban identity of the coastal city, as well as other attractions and tourism services. The Lungomare extension to the tunnel at the Cold Water area is envisioned as a vibrant pedestrian zone and a major recreational area, combining a series of services to local residents and visitors. Beach areas, sports grounds, an Olympic-size swimming pool, swimming pools for children, water parks, underground parking lot, the pines boulevard, as well as new hotels and other tourism-related facilities will set high service standards for the visitors.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by Vlora Mayor Dritan Leli walked along the one-km long pedestrian walkway extension of the Waterfront Promenade, where work continues incessantly. “Approximately 95% of the work along the promenade is already completed. New pines are being planted. The first 20 trees have been already planted and work will continue to plant at least 100 pines along entire stretch to provide shading for the activities held along the promenade. The newly created beaches cover an area of almost 6000 square meters. In addition to the natural beaches being created as a result of the interventions in the infrastructure, the older existing beaches have been rehabilitated,” Leli said.

Such investments not only attract a growing number of visitors, but they also give a fresh impetus to the local economy. This was also confirmed by Vlora Mayor, who noted that “prior to the investment in this territory, the house prices stood at an average level, while they have tripled now.”

The Premier praised the builders for the construction work in this part of Vlora. An underground parking lot already under construction is an integral part of the Lungomare+.
