The Ministry of Health held today the public report on its performance in the first 300 days of government. Minister Ilir Beqaj and leaders of dependent agencies of the Ministry of Health reported what has been done during this period, but also highlighted the ongoing challenges to reform and modernize the health system.
For Minister Beqaj, these 300 days have been a period of intense work throughout the health sector, which started with the improvement of the inherited poor conditions by supplying hospitals with medicines and restoring the functioning of bio-medical devices.
Besides highlighting the ongoing challenges to reform and modernize the health system, Minister Beqaj said that the main challenge remains the fight against abuse and corruption within the health system.
Officials of the Ministry and other public health institutions reported that one tangible achievement for citizens was the removal of 10% VAT for medicines, while the list of reimbursable drugs for 2014 was expanded with 55 additional new drugs compared to the past four years together.
