The north-western Albanian town of Laç resembles to a giant construction camp undergoing complete reconstruction. The new residential complex, the so-called Zone 1 and Zone 2 in the town’s centre are all gradually taking their final shape thanks to the major work underway to reconstruct new apartment buildings from scratch. Construction of the structure of the new residential buildings is scheduled to complete in May.

“This will be the most beautiful new residential complex built from the ground up in Albania,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said as he inspected the construction work, whose pace is impressive.

Construction of a significant part of apartments is heading towards completion and along with the work done by Turkish company, construction of new school, a government-funded project, is also underway.

“The project implementation manager said that construction of whole this structure is scheduled to complete by May, while the roofs of four residential buildings has also completed and work on walls plastering in all apartments is also underway. The construction materials are being provided from Turkey and a part of the apartment furnishings is also being provided,” Kurbin Mayor Majlinda Cara said.

Prime Minister Rama showed interest in the project’s details that best entail every space inside and outside their apartments.

“The new residential neighbourhood is well-organized and the citizens due to benefit housing in this complex will be provided all the necessary living spaces, parks, public spaces, parking places, shopping centre and service units. It will be a sort of a small city within the city. The new municipal building and the regional hospital will be also constructed inside this complex. The infrastructure work has been launched in the Zones 1 and 2. This is one of the main parts of the town, where the underground infrastructure, site preparation work, civil and urban infrastructure have all completed, including construction of the new water supply system, and all what remains is laying the final asphalt layer,” Kurbin Mayor said during the inspection of the construction work.

The Premier also visited some of the completed apartment houses, where everything has been built in compliance with the most contemporary infrastructure standards.
