Prime Minister Edi Rama visited one of the newly-built hotel facilities as part of the social and economic revival of the southern city of Gjirokaster, where more household businesses are being launched steadily, whereas number of local and international visitors keeps growing turning the museum city into a major tourist destination in Albania.
“This site used to be a shooting range, an old dilapidated building. After the ‘90s it was transformed into a disco club. The post-communism building was not a beautiful one. When we bought the building, it was totally ruined and we built it almost from scratch,” – said the new entrepreneur, who through hard work and wise solutions succeeded in transforming the place into a very interesting accommodation facility.
Another long-awaited infrastructure investment in terms of making use of the tourist area is an underground parking space for 300 cars, which is heading to completion, and provides a pedestrian area for local residents, avoids traffic from Old Bazaar and creates a new urban oasis under Çerçiz Square, connecting it with the neighbourhood and strengthens the city’s historic profile.
