Prime Minister Edi Rama and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci visited the fair of handicraft products of Kukës and surrounding areas.
Prime Minister Edi Rama could admire a precious aspect of Kukës tradition, famous also outside this area especially for tapestry, carpets and traditional handmade costumes.
“I told Prime Minister Thaçi: you will see yourself in this fair that the tradition of carpets and rugs has not died. On the contrary, we are renewing it – Prime Minister addressed to Kukës fair organizers and handicrafts that he thanked with deep gratitude for saving the tradition and cultural identity of their lands and transmitting them to future generations.
Prime Minister Rama assured support to special programs for reviving handicrafts and encouraging youth to continue with this traditional craft.
“The Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth program will provide much greater support to for craftsmanship than ever before. Support will be offered also to training in order to pass this tradition to young people, otherwise it will disappear” – Prime Minister said.
For this reason, representatives of Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth that sponsored the fair, noted that these programs not only aim at promoting Albanian handicraft, but also at supporting various social groups.
“The Ministry of Welfare has always organized and sponsored these fairs in order to support artisans because the income they receive is for their families, the whole community and people in need. It is important to promote, first of all place our traditions and values. For this reason, the Ministry is organizing training courses in order to pass tradition from master craftsmen to young people so that it will not die but move forward” – a representative of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth said.
The fair was part of the agenda for the 15th exodus anniversary of Kosovo Albanians and was organized with the support of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth for promoting handicraft products of this region.
