Prime Minister Edi Rama is on an official visit to the United States of America takes over the leadership of the United Nations Security Council for a period of one month in June, for the first time in its history. Meanwhile, Albania was elected a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2022-2023, where it also took over the co-penholder with the United States of America on Ukraine issue.

Prime Minister Rama, who is accompanied by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka, today met with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to discuss programme and priorities of the Albanian Presidency of the UN Security Council, and Albania’s readiness to offer its contribution to peace, security, human rights and international sustainable development.
