Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Press Statement of Minister of State for Relations with Parliament, Ermonela Felaj:

Four years later, justice for January 21 is still missing.

Justice is sought not only by the families of Ziver, Hekuran, Aleks and Faik, but by every Albanian who four years ago was a witness to the state crime that took the lives of four innocent citizens in Tirana’s main boulevard.

Those who think today that the crime of January 21 is a closed case that simply can wander in the calends of the Albanian justice, are wrong. They are totally wrong.

This government has not forgotten January 21, and will never forget it until justice is done. No Albanian can forget January 21.

If justice for the state crime that took the lives of four innocent citizens is being delayed, after four years have passed, we call justice to act.

But if justice will continue to delay the justice that January 21 deserves, Albanians must be ensured that an alternative mechanism will put on the right track the Albanian justice concerning this issue.

The Albanian government took today an important step to grant a special pension to the relatives of those killed on 21 January. This is the first legal step through which the Albanian state assumes full responsibility for the murder of four Albanian citizens in Tirana’s main boulevard.

But this is only the first step towards a complete justice that must bring before the law the originators and executors of the four murders, one by one.

Thank you!
