Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected another construction site, unblocked lately, for works on  Lin-Pogradec tourist road along the lake. This inspection aimed to get acquainted with the numerous problematic in implementation of the project and encouragement of acceleration of works, where the Prime Minister said, “Let us advance with payment of debt to complete works, whereas company here should work at full capacity with 2-3 shifts”.

The works on construction of this 17.5 km segment have been interrupted for months, as in many other segments in entire Albanian, territory, due to delayed payments to the construction company. Works have re-started after Government’s guaranty to pay accumulated debt to construction companies for public works.

Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated this guaranty and pointed in particular to a concerning problem regarding quality of projects, which – as he stressed – do not respect urban and environmental standards. The Prime Minister shared such problematic also with constructors and underlined that the project shall be reviewed by both parts in order to improve its standards.

“On our part, we will take on all our responsibility. We will review the project together with you to reconsider all the missing elements. The project should be reviewed also in those parts where you have noticed problems, but also where we have ascertained problems, because these projects have been drafted like “issuing visas” and then come here and destroy the nature. This cannot happen anymore. But, it is also important that we are on time to recuperate things and put an end to all these attempts to build on both sides of the road”, the Premier said.

Prime Minister Rama considered this segment as very important tourist road with an added value in particular during summer season, therefore urged acceleration of construction pace, beside respect of standards by turning it into another example of new model in infrastructure.

“The most important part is for you to have the opportunity not to interrupt works and step up the construction pace because this is a very strategic road. This road terrifies everyone passing here, in particular in summer. This road is of great importance for us. We will do the utmost to push works ahead here. We must turn this road into a model of excellence because it is a very important tourist road,” – Prime Minister said.

Lin-Pogradec is Loti 2 of Qafe Thane-Pogradec road financed by state budget.
