Albanian Government Council of Ministers

From a small dressmaking business inherited from her family, Endrita Botka has succeeded in turning it into a design and customized uniforms tailoring enterprise with an estimated annual turnover at over 80 million lek, while she plans to expand her business this year.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited premises of this business that benefits from a government measure cutting the profit tax to five percent from a previous 15 percent rate.

“We operate in the garment and footwear sector. It is a business I inherit from my mother. We mostly work in the domestic market and this year we have been commissioned to design and tailor the uniforms of various companies and school uniforms. It has been really a successful year. With the increase of the turnover threshold, we are confident that a more successful year lies ahead,” says the entrepreneur, who plans to increase number of employees and expand her business.

“I am very pleased. Seeing that increased annual turnover provides more opportunities to us, I plan to hire more workers,” Endrita adds.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister underlined that the fiscal incentives aim at encouraging business to further grow and create new jobs, as well as create more favourable treatment for the employees. “This is the goal. You now pay three times less in taxes and therefore you should now increase the number of employees and their salaries.”

Modern technology is another strong aspect this company competes in the market. With the new fiscal incentives, the company managers plan to boost investments in this direction. “We are now given the opportunity to make more investments this year. One of these investments is the embroidery machine, as we are now engaged in designing and tailoring various uniforms which require customized products. It is a very good thing. This is the latest technology. It is a costly machine, but worth it,” Endrita notes.

Helped by new fiscal incentives, young executives are confident they will be able to better manage what their parents have created by hard work. “It’s a consolidated business. We inherit it from our parents. I am graduated in another field, but I think craft is the thing we need. Even though we belong to a young generation, I think that power lies in the know-how.”
