Albanian Government Council of Ministers

WITH SUPPORT OF THE ALBANIAN GOVERNMENT, THE FIRST MODERN AGRICULTURAL MARKET WITH EUROPEAN STANDARDS WAS OPENED WITHIN SIX MONTHS. SHOPS, PARKING AREAS FOR VANS THAT CARRY FARM PRODUCTS, SHOWROOMS FOR PRODUCTS, MEGA-CAPACITY REFRIGERATORS FOR STORAGE OF PRODUCTS FOR EVERY SEASON, CAFES, RESTAURANTS, AND 300 NEW JOBS ARE PART OF THE INVESTMENT THAT PRIME MINISTER RAMA AND MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND WATER MANAGEMENT EDMOND PANARITI VISITED TODAY, BEFORE INAUGURATION, TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS OK.

The beneficiary of this financial support from the government says that the project has been ready for nearly ten years, but bureaucratic delays have been insurmountable. Within six months, the first market of its kind in Albania became a reality and now, farmers of Elbasan district are one step closer to Europe.

Prime Minister Rama appreciated this investment of European standards and considered it as an example of success that must be promoted.

“We are very grateful, because this is not just a problem of this area, but it honors us and gives us the opportunity to promote it as an example of success for other areas, so that people start to see a different perspective through these agricultural markets and bring here people from other countries, from north to south and take this experience to other countries”- Premier Minister said during a conversation with the investor.

Minister Panariti said that the mechanism for price transparency through daily publication is an innovation that comes along with this investment.

“Let us do a mini auction every day, a mini agricultural sort of stock market. The giant screen you have commissioned will be placed at the forefront and daily prices will be visible for everyone, so that there will be no chances for speculation. This is a very positive thing, because we have to incorporate this mechanism of price transparency, “- Minister Panariti said.

Director of the Agency of Agriculture and Rural Development Suela Popa said that such investments, besides increasing food safety formalize the market.

“One of the main goals was to formalization by means of this giant market. Now there xis additional control on the trade, but foremost there is formalization. And there is also more control on the standards, either by the National Food Authority or by other technical bodies” – Popa said.
